Amazon S3 Sharing: How to create a new team member to share S3 bucket?

Bucket Explorer Team Edition is used by those, who want to share buckets / data with team members using single or more S3 accounts. Administrator can create users and give/ change/ withdraw different permissions to different team members. The team members can make use of all the permitted features of the Bucket explorer .

Follow the steps below to create a new user:

  1. Go to team.bucketexplorer.com (control panel) with your registered email address and password.
  2. Click on “ Create Users ” or “ Manage user ” link on dashboard to start adding new Bucket Explorer users.
  3. Enter details like Account Number [1] , user email address , S3 Access key and Secret key , and select user type either Admin or User.
  4. Click on 'Create User' button.
  5. Set Private Bucket for User [2] , Shared Bucket and select appropriate Permissions [3] for the new team member.
  6. Click on “ Create User ” button to save the permissions for new member and to  get the team member’s Authentication details ( Password and Token Number ). The PASSWORD and TOKEN will be used by Team member every time when she runs Bucket Explorer. Password is generated by control panel and the team member can change it later. The token cannot be changed by team member. You (the admin) can Re-Certify the user to change the token,
Important
The Token and Password are not saved by team.bucketexplorer.com, So It is important for Administrator to personally inform her team members about her Password and Token. We recommend that you do not communicate the password and token via email.
  • ˆ Account Number : Chambal.com provides an account for all licensed users. One user can hold more then one team account to manage multiple teams. You will see the accounts numbers for different team accounts in a drop down menu. Select the one which you want to manage.
  • ˆ Private Bucket for User : It is optional, Admin can give the Existing bucket name or a new name. If new bucket name isn't available then bucket is automatically created in Admin’s S3 Account and if private bucket field is left blank, a bucket will automatically be created with the name of user's email ID.
  • ˆ Permissions : Admin can give any of the following permissions to new users to use Bucket Explorer. Bucket (i.e. Create , Count, Delete , Move , Default , Copy , Logging , Properties , Sharing , ACL , Comparer ), Object (i.e. Web url , Delete , Metadata , Create Folder, Rename , Copy , Properties , Move , ACL, Comparer), Other : - Upload , Download , Audit report and Commander , Generate Team Edition Package, Cloud Front Distribution.
