How to create new group to associate an AWS IAM user with?

Bucket Explorer Team Edition allows you to create groups and manage them. You can add all users who have similar set of permissions to a group and grant the permissions for that group. You do not need to specify permissions for each individual user.

Create Group using REST API

Steps to create a new IAM Group under S3 account using Bucket Explorer:

  1. Go to Bucket Explorer Team Edition site to manage Users and Groups.
  2. Login to the site using your account details.
  3. After a successful login, it will ask you to enter Access key and Secret Access key .
  4. Provide valid Access key and Secret Access key. After a successful authentication, it will lead you to Manage Groups and Users page.
  5. Click on Manage Groups . A page will open with the list of existing Groups.
  6. Click on  Create New link situated at the bottom of page.
  7. This will open a page to create new group. Enter the group name, set of permissions for that group and select bucket and objects on which you want to give the permissions to this group.

  1. To give permission on bucket, you have to select a bucket from the list on the left and add it to list on the right using >> option.
  2. If you want to give permissions to S3 objects, you can select any bucket from the drop down option. It will list the first 1000 root level objects. Then you can select objects from the list and add them to the list on the right.
  3. Select the check box corresponding to the actions. Group will have all the selected permissions.
  4. Enter comment,  if you want.
