MFA (Multi-Factor-Authentication) Delete
has been provided by Amazon S3 to facilitate user to have additional security for preventing malicious access (unauthorized deletion of an S3 object) on objects. While deleting version(s) of S3 objects , if you have enabled
Versioning with MFA Delete
then Amazon S3 will ask for an authentication code. This is a valid six-digit code generated from authentication device.
Bucket Explorer helps you to
Set Versioning with MFA Delete
option to prevent malicious access. You have two options provided by Bucket Explorer to enable/disable Versioning's MFA Delete capabilities at Bucket level.
Follow the steps below to set MFA delete on bucket :

Start the Bucket Explorer and connect with your Amazon S3 Account.

Select desired bucket on which you want to set versioning with MFA Delete.

Right click on desired bucket and choose
"Versioning"
option
or
click on
"Advanced"
button. It will show drop down options. Select
"Versioning"
among them.

Click on
"Set"
option.

A
Set Versioning
window will appear with two options for enable
"Versioning"
and
"MFA Delete"
.

If you have already enabled
Versioning
then you can choose
"MFA Delete"
option to delete existing version(s) using MFA or you can choose both options to enable
"Versioning"
and
"MFA Delete"
.

Once you have enabled
MFA Delete
, Bucket Explorer will ask you for a valid six-digit code from authentication device, if you are trying to delete version(s) of S3 objects.

If you have unchecked the
"MFA Delete"
option on
Set Versioning
window then Bucket Explorer will not ask you for MFA before deleting version(s) of S3 objects.
