How to retrieve deleted Amazon S3 files and folders in Team Edition?

start This document explains sharing S3 Bucket using Bucket Explorer Team Edition, applicable for an older version of Bucket Explorer Team Edition. If you are using Bucket Explorer version Team Edition 2.0, this page is not valid anymore. end

Bucket Explorer Team Edition is a tool used by members of a team (small or large) who wants to share S3 files with flexible access rights. In such a case it is possible that some important data are accidentally overwritten or deleted by one of the members by mistake. Thus, there should be a way to retrieve such data. Bucket Explorer Team Edition provides the ability to admin for retrieving such data.

For retrieving the deleted data the user needs to contact his admin so that the admin can get that data back from trash or Version folder of System Bucket (if the S3 versioning is not enabled on that particular bucket) and can make that data available for her. If the S3  versioning is enabled on that bucket from which data are overwritten/deleted, then S3 keeps the backup for such data. Admin can view all the versions stored on S3 and retrive it back.
