Menu Bar Quick Reference for Amazon S3 UI Client Bucket Explorer

  1. File :  

    1. New window: You can run multiple instances of Bucket Explorer using "New window" option. It is helpful when you want to run different processes simultaneously on same or different S3 account.
    2. Preferences: This option is used to set Pagination , Proxy, Audit Report ON/OFF and Automatic Retry limit for failed process in queue . You can also set the default options for Queue. The default options are used only if you enable “Set as by default; and also can set advance setting like copy to temp before upload, keep history and Read Throttle.
    3. Logout: This option is used to logout from Bucket Explorer.
    4. Quit : This option is used to quit Bucket Explorer
  2. Tools :

    1. Bucket
      1. Hide/ Unhide bucket(s): This option is used to hide buckets , you can check the box besides bucket when you want to hide the bucket. You can also unhide hidden buckets using same option, you just need to uncheck the box besides bucket which you want to unhide.
      2. Show hidden bucket(s): This option is used to show all hidden buckets in bucket listing.
    2. Enable debug logging: This option is used to set debug logging ON/ OFF. It is a toggle command. When this option is ON all debug information get saved into the logs, by default it is OFF.
    3. Preferences: This option is used to set Pagination, Proxy, Audit Report ON/OFF and Automatic Retry limit for failed process in queue. you can set Advance setting like copy to temp before upload, keep history and Read Throttle
    4. Advance Preferences : This option is for advance settings. You can set the default options for Queue. The default options are used only if you enable “Remember for each queue operation” and you can set some more option  like copy to temp, read throttle , max speed in KB/Thread , to keep queue history etc.  
    5. Bucket Sharing
      1. Access shared bucket from a friend’s account: This option is used to access shared bucket of your friend. When shared bucket of friend gets added in bucket listing of your account, it shows a shared icon besides it.
      2. Share my bucket with a friend: You can add your friend with her Email ID and can give her desired access permissions using Update Bucket's Access Control List. This option is used to share your Bucket with friend by choose buckets from the list on which you have given permission to access. .
      3. Remove shared bucket(s) from config: This option is used to remove shared buckets in your account from config. After removing shared bucket from config, your friend will not be able to access that bucket any more.
    6. Email Configuration: Bucket Commander sends mail for the summary report of its operation using the mail configuration . This option helps to create/ edit/ delete such mail configurations.
    7. Commander:
      1. Run Bucket Commander: This option is used to run Bucket Commander with UI of Bucket Explorer.
      2. Edit Commander Config File: This option is used to set commander configuration .
    8. Advanced:
      1. Edit Mime Type: This option is used to add, edit and remove mime types in Bucket Explorer.
      2. Audit Report: This option is used to access all the reports regarding changes that had taken place on your Bucket(S) from Amazon SimpleDB. This report shows Bucket name, action, time taken in action, who did the action, location where the action has been performed. You can keep track of all the information about all activities performed on your bucket. This is an optional feature and you would need a SimpleDB account to enable Audit Reports.
      3. Comparer: Comparer is used to compare files & folders between local disk & S3, s3 to s3 and local to local using two comparison property i.e. A> Compare with Name and Hash B> Compare with Name and Size.
      4. Transfer Panel: This option is used to perform copy/move operation from one s3 account to same account or different account.
  3. TransferQueue:

    1. Process Pending Queue: This option is used to see the list of pending queues . It also provides the functionality to restart the pending queues.
    2. Transfer Queue History: This option is used to see the transfer history of queue ; you can select any one queue from drop down list then click show to see the history of selected queue.
  4. Add-Ins:

    1. AWS Import Export : This option is used to ship your data to AWS on your storage device so that your data can be loaded into Amazon S3 with Amazon's high-speed network. You can send AWS as many storage devices as you want with any amount of data, anytime.
    2. Option : This option configure the Import/Export configuration path.This path is used to save manifest and signature file while creating Import/Export jobs.
    3. Notification Service : Amazon S3 Notification enables user to configure S3 bucket to send a notification through SNS.This option will provide an easy interface to create, subscribe, publish and view all notification topics.
  5. Help:

    1. Online documentation: This option takes you to the online documentation page of Bucket Explorer site.
    2. Ask a question: This option takes you to the online support forum of Bucket Explorer.
    3. Contact Us: This option takes you to the contact us page of Bucket Explorer site.
    4. Check for Update: This option displays the currently using version of Bucket Explorer.
    5. Tips and Tricks: This option displays “Tip of the day” window, clicking on Next Tip button you can see next tip to use Bucket Explorer.
    6. Open Logs:  This option opens the folder where logs are saved.
    7. How to Sign-up for Amazon S3 account: This option takes you to the online tutorial page of Bucket Explorer for “ How to create a new Amazon s3 account ” where you can find easy steps to create S3 account.
