Bulk delete: How to delete large number of files from an Amazon S3 Bucket

Quick delete feature is provided you to completely delete the Bucket/file(s) from S3 without saving anything in Audit report and Trash of system bucket , it deletes files in chunks of 1000.

Amazon S3 Bucket Delete: If you want to delete bucket(s) permanently without saving anything in audit report and Trash bucket, follow the steps below:
  1. Start the Bucket Explorer and connect with your Amazon S3 Account .
  2. Select the bucket you want to delete.
  3. Click on drop down button "Advanced" and select "Quick delete" or you can Right click on Bucket to choose Bucket delete -> Quick delete option
  4. If bucket which you are deleting is distributed bucket then it will ask “You have created a distribution on this bucket, are you sure you want to delete the bucket #BucketName#”.

  5. If you click on “Don't Delete” then it will cancel the delete operation otherwise it prompts a message "Quick Delete 1.Nothing is saved in audit report. 2.Everything gets deleted permanently,won't move in trash. 3.We don't maintain any history about Quick delete operations. Are you sure,you want to delete the bucket: #BucketName#” with "Delete" and "Don't delete" buttons.
  6. If you click on "Don't delete", it doesn’t delete the Bucket.
  7. If you click on "Delete", it shows a process bar showing "Preparing listing for delete", in a box with "Cancel listing" button.
    Note : > If you click Cancel listing Button, it will stop listing process.
  8. After completion of listing, it starts deleting files and also show "Cancel delete" button.
  9. Clicking on "Cancel delete" button, stops deletion.
  10. After completion of deletion process, it deletes bucket completely without saving anything in audit report and system bucket.

Delete Amazon S3 Files/Folders :

If you want to delete bucket’s Files/Folders permanently without saving anything in audit report and system bucket, follow the steps below:
  1. Start the Bucket Explorer and connect with your Amazon S3 Account.
  2. Select the file(s)/folder(s) to be deleted.
  3. Click on drop down button "Advanced" -> select "Quick delete" from object toolbar or you can right click on Files/folders to select "Delete File" -> "Quick delete".
  4. It prompts a message "Quick Delete 1.Nothing is saved in audit report. 2.Everything gets deleted permanently,won't move in trash. 3.We don't maintain any history about Quick delete operations. Are you sure you want to delete #No. of files/folders# item(s)” with "Delete" and "Don't delete" options.
  5. If you click on "Don't delete", it doesn’t delete the selected File(s)/Folder(s).
  6. If you click on "Delete", it shows a process bar showing "Preparing listing for delete" in a box with "Cancel listing" button.
    Note :
    If you click Cancel listing Button, it will stop listing process.
  7. After completion of listing, it starts deleting files/folders and also show "Cancel delete" button.
  8. Clicking on "Cancel delete" button stops deletion.
  9. After completion of deletion process, it deletes all selected file(s) or folder(s) completely without saving anything in audit report and system bucket.
