Bucket Explorer
provides you a facility to upload file(s) at Amazon S3 with Custom Header. Every uploading file has its own system
Metadata
, and using this feature you can customize Metadata detail for the uploading file and folder. Even you can
Set/Edit the system Metadata for the file
.
Follow the steps to upload files on Amazon S3 with custom header :
-
Run Bucket Explorer as usual.
-
Select a
Bucket
in which you want to
upload file
.
-
Select file(s) that you want to upload with custom header from left panel tree and do right click on selected file(s).
-
Now, Select option "
Upload with Custom Headers
".
-
A dialog box appears titled as “Upload with custom header”, click on ‘Add’ button, it will ask for Key and value.
-
Enter data for key and value, key name does not contain any space and other constraints that are followed by Metadata.
-
Click on
OK
button.
-
Uploading process will be started in queue and after completion of queue you can see statistics panel for the status of
upload process
.
-
The file(s) have now been uploaded.
-
Refresh object listing so that you can see uploaded file(s).
-
Right click on uploaded file and choose the "
Properties
" option.
-
You will find the Metadata added in properties of the file.
-
Only files within folder show Metadata in their properties, not folder even if you upload the folder with custom header.
Note
: Repeat this test with a folder + one file (i.e. select a folder and a file on same level on local system) and then check it again and check properties on all files uploaded. The Metadata values will be saved for all the files that have been uploaded including files under folder and the selected single file.
-
If you upload same file with different custom header, you will be asked to Overwrite or Skip the file.
-
After completing the uploading process, new Metadata will not be saved with the identical file’s properties.
-
Now change the content of the file at local file system and upload it again with new Metadata, now you can see the changed Metadata (Custom header) in properties window of the file.
