What's the meaning of the activity "Calculating hash of the file"?

When we calculate hash of the file, the hash is calculated of the local copy. We calculate two types hashes, MD5 & SHA-1 . Both of them are added to the file as metadata. Next time, when you try to upload same file again, we compare the hash and if the hash is same, the file is not uploaded again even if you select "Overwrite it" .
