On-line support for Bucket Explorer for Amazon S3

Heya folks, just started using Bucket Explorer a little while ago, pretty nice program so far. I'd like to see a few more features, basically I'd like it to be similar to Filezilla in a few ways. No I don't mean an actual FTP interface, I just mean some usability and changes etc.

Quick Connect is nice, but I would prefer the ability to choose from a drop down list of S3 logins that I can nickname whatever I want. Perhaps have a BOOKMARK button where you can setup these S3 accounts with the access key, secret key and nickname. The login entry you have now is good, but the text entry fields should be narrower so bucket explorer better fits on narrow screens like 800x600.

I'd also like to see better local path tree sorting. Specifically I'd like to see folders (Organized alphabetically) before items within those folders. Some shortcuts, like to My Documents etc would also be nice, but so would an ability to save favorite places on the local machine, perhaps another drop down window, so we can just jump there easily. Also, again bucket explorer does not handle being on an 800x600 screen here either and its verticall too tall for the monitor.

The file transfer indicator could use a little more data as well I think. I'd like the ability to have an upload or download que, so I can upload or download multiple files at a time by selecting them all at once, or adding them to the que one by one by selecting them and pressing the upload or download buttons.

That's it for now.

Thanks for the feedback.

These are some very good suggestions. You should see the tree view improvements (folder & files listing on the left) sometimes this month. We got this requirement from several other users last month and we included that in the list for september release.

We will try to add the bookmark, text tagging for the account name and queue in the October release.

Are you really using the 800*600 monitor or you are using a really large monitor and want to use multiple programs (i.e. assign only 800*600 screen to one program).

Again, thanks for the feedback.

I really have a 800x600 monitor, its my second monitor, my main is 1360x768. It would be nice to be able to have Bucket Explorer in this auxiliary monitor so I can use it while running other programs in the main window (I do this with many programs).

It almost fits, but not quite.

The tree view has been corrected in Sept Beta release. We still have the other two issues on our "ToDo" list :)

In the October Beta (check first sticky post to get URL for October Beta), we have added "nick names" for accounts. We tried, but at this time, support for 800*600 resolution is not possible. We will give it another shot in Q1, 08. All other feature requests from this thread have been added in Oct. release.
