bucket names

Sometimes when I (try to) create a bucket name, BE comes back and gives me the 'its already been chosen' dialogue with a suggestion of a similar name. I hit cancel (rather than taking the suggestion) and it creates the bucket anyway. I thought maybe it was just a local bug but when I quit and restart BE it indeed has created the bucket it claimed it could not create. (The bucket also appears when I look at my space using FF S30 so I know it really is being created.)

Thanks for reporting this. I am assuming you are seeing this in the Sept Beta. I will test this with that version.

Is it creating the bucket with the name suggested by Bucket Explorer or the name which you originally wanted to use?

Yes, September release. This is what happened. I asked for 'football' and got a simple response (with no suggestions) that 'football' was already taken. Then I asked for 'Football' and it came back with the longer message that it was already taken but maybe I wanted Football3209384. When I said 'no' and upon BE redrawing my buckets, 'Football' was there. (Which of course is diffent than 'football') Also I had a bucket called. "therobertsfamily" and got the same message when trying for "TheRobertsFamily" which it also made so I have both now. Perhaps you are not checking case but that doesn't explain why it went ahead and created them after, 1) BE said it wasn't available and 2)I quit before choosing a new name.

This was fixed in October Beta.
