Mac version.

Postby zevlag on Tue Sep 11, 2007 11:17 pm

I've read in another thread that you were interested in testing the product on Mac. I would be glad to help in this process with any debugging, etc. that may be needed.

I downloaded the linux version and upon first attempt it is a no go.

I am given the following errors:
Code: Select all
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file
        at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
        at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:620)

Code: Select all
java -version
java version "1.5.0_07"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_07-164)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_07-87, mixed mode, sharing)

The problem is that Apple has not released j2ee v6 for OS X yet. YOu need to compile in v5 compatibility mode.

zevlag:

Thanks for the initiative. We appreciate that. We opted for Java 6 mainly for the look & feel on Windows. The desktop project of Java 6 provides many enhanced features.

Will try to build the project with Java 5 this week and upload a version.

Again, thanks for the help.

No intent to be pushy, just curious if you have got around to this yet? Anything I could do to help?

Your inputs are truly appreciated (including suggesting the name for "Show All" button.
My apologies for not uploading the version compiled with Java 5 last week as promised. I should have it up in next 24-36 hours.

Josh,

Just to give you an update on Mac. We have removed dependencies from Java 6 and compiled a version with JDK 5. But one jar does not seem to be working on Mac. We will need more time to debug this.

Sounds like you are making progress. Do you have a Mac in house you are testing on? Do you need any help debugging?

you beat me by few minutes on posting status on this thread Josh.

Yes, we got a Mac and started testing. There are some changes that we will have to do in order to run the code on Mac. The changes are not big but will require some effort on QA. So, we made a call today to first release our Sept version, for which we have been posting in this forum for past few weeks. Once the Sept release is out, we can work on fixing the Mac specific issues and release an update.

This does not cancel our plan for Mac, it just delays that by about 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for your patience.

Josh,

If you have few minutes, can you please give it a try on your Mac OSX. Remember, this is an alpha release on MacOSX.

We appreciate your help and thanks for your time.

Thanks
